Our workshop on April 4, 2013-The Affordable Care Act in Hawaii: How it Impacts Me-was a great success! Thanks to all the physicians, pharmacists, nurses, health specialists, health clinic staff and vaccine representative who attended.
The presentation by Tom Matsuda, who is the Affordable Care Act Implementation Manager in the Office of the Governor, sparked lively discussions about how the Affordable Care Act will impact services in Hawai`i specifically. Mahalo to Tom for your time and willingness to share!

Hawai‘i has the highest rate of liver cancer in the United States, and one of the leading causes of liver cancer is vaccine-preventable hepatitis B. “Viral Hepatitis: Combating the Silent Epidemic in Hawaii” was presented by the Co-Directors of Hep Free Hawaii, Heather Lusk (from the CHOW Project) and Thaddeus Pham (from the Department of Health).
This workshop was presented by the Hawaii Immunization Coalition, a 501(c)3 non-profit agency, working to increase immunize rates across the every individual’s lifespan. The workshop was held on Wed, October 26 from 12 noon – 1:30 pm at Outrigger Canoe Club, 2909 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu HI 96815.
