Whooping cough in U.S. on track to be worst in 50 years

Almost 18,000 whooping cough cases and nine deaths have been reported in the U.S. so far this year, setting the country on pace for the highest rates of the disease in the last 50 years, CDC officials said on Thursday. In Washington state alone there were more than 3,000 cases of whooping cough, prompting officials to declare an epidemic. WebMD (7/19)
